Rob Collins – Mentor

Rob Collins has worked for 25 years in the software industry in Ottawa. Twenty of those years with spent with Cognos, Inc. He started there testing software and spent several years in each of the Customer Support, Marketing, R&D, and Product Management areas. As Vice-Presdient of the Query and Reporting Products division, he led the transition to web-based products. His last position was Chief Information Officer, in which role he served for 3 years.

After retiring from full time work, Rob participated on the board of local Ottawa startups and in the Lead to Win program at Carleton University which is intended to help revitalize the high-tech industry in Ottawa. Rob was also chair of the Mayor’s Task Force on eGovernment and a member of the Task Force on Governance for the City of Ottawa. This led to a role as Technology Advisory at the city working with Council and senior management to bring Ottawa into the 21st century in exploiting technology to benefit citizens.
